Bathing suits, Football and Houses

Back in the day when we went to department stores, it would be around this time of year when you are wearing your winter coat and it's freezing out.   You walk into the store only to find they are selling bathing suits.   Crazy!    My mom always said it was for the Cruise-wear Season.   We were not cruisers and didn't have a need for new swimwear each February.

Now a few years have passed and I find myself to be an adult who happens to be a seasoned Realtor.   I still don't cruise and rarely wear a swimsuit anymore but I do understand selling them in February now.   Selling a swimsuit in February is the same as selling homes in the Spring Market that starts the day after the Super Bowl.   

The spring real estate market starting on February 12 makes perfect sense to me.   

This is when you will start to see the number of listings go waaaaay up on your favorite real estate app.   Why?   It is because now is the time to start looking if you want to move and get settled before a child starts their new school year in the Fall.
